It was on September 4 last year that 40-year-old Neetu Khanna, a school teacher and mother of two teenagers, died after her two-wheeler was hit by a car. Her family is still trying to cope with life without her. On September 1, Neetu was returning home to Sector 43 from a private school in Sector 35 where she had started teaching a year and a half before the accident. A Ford Figo driven by Jasbir Singh hit her and Neetu was rushed to GMSH-16 with serious injuries. Thereafter, she was referred to PGI and she succumbed to injuries on September 4. [related-post] Neetu, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was mother of an 18-year-old daughter and 14- year-old son. She had started working after her children were on their own. “She learnt to ride a two-wheeler some time before she started working. Though she had a helmet, she never wore one,” said her father-in-law D K Khanna. Neetu’s husband Neeraj Khanna has not been able to reconcile with her death. According to his father, Neeraj has not been talking much and keeping to himself since Neetu’s death. “One must wear a helmet. We cannot fight with nature but we can take precautions. It is not just about getting challaned; it is a matter of life and death,” added D K Khanna.
