After various groups took to the streets in support of UT Adviser Vijay Dev, city BJP Chief Sanjay Tandon Thursday spoke to party ministers in Delhi “to find out if the orders can be cancelled”.
Tandon claimed to have spoken to Department of Personnel and Training wherein he was told that it was the Ministry of Home Affairs that initiated the transfers and DoPT only prepared the papers.
“I have put in a message to Home Minister Rajnath Singh also. I had called up MOS Home as well. Being a Parliament day, all are busy. The DoPT said that they just prepare the papers and have nothing to do with the transfer. The MHA initiates the transfers. Dev is an efficient officer and I am trying my best to convey the feeling of the residents to the high command,” said Tandon.

Congress had alleged that the BJP had a hand in the sudden transfer of Dev because all was not well between the BJP leaders and the adviser. Former mayor Poonam Sharma had also alleged that since the BJP leaders wanted to get work done using dishonest means and Dev wasn’t toeing their line, he was being transferred.
However, the BJP chief had refuted the allegation, saying it was baseless.
“The premature transfer, prior to allotted tenure, raises suspicion of complicity between the BJP local leadership and MP Kirron Kher in getting these transfers,” said Chhabra.
