The return of the SAD-BJP government has changed influence potential of officers,while the police officers perceived close to the Congress have been sidelined,the IAS officers who are close to the opposition have been given relatively good postings. As per orders issued on Friday,Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Rajinder Singh,who enjoyed considerable clout during the 2002-2007 Congress government,has not been promoted to DGP even as three of his batch mates,including S S Saini (present DGP of the state police),were promoted immediately after formation of the SAD-BJP government. ADGP (Welfare) Rajinder Singh,who retires in 2015,along with ADGP Mohd Mustafa,husband of Razina Sultana Congress MLA from Malerkotla who lost in the assembly elections,protested the transfers without promotion. Sidharth Chatopadhyaya,who was earlier ADGP (Provisioning and Moderation) has now been posted as Member NRI Commission Punjab. He is the same officer who during 2002-2007 was Director of Punjab Vigilance Bureau and investigated the case against the Badals. He then went on central deputation in 2007 when SAD-BJP Government came to power and only few months ago came back to the state and was posted as ADGP. Parampal Singh Sidhu has been transferred as IG Special Narcotics Cell stationed at Pathankot,he was IGP Punjab Armed Police and in a letter which he wrote during elections to the state Chief Electoral Officer,he alleged that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Youth Akali Dal president Bikramjit Singh Majithia are political goondas,who were threatening his family. Meanwhile a few days ago the state government transferred around 25 IAS officers,Suresh Kumar who was Principal Secretary to the Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amaridner Singh from2002 to 2007 and in the SAD-BJP Government has remained on important positions as Principal Secretary Power and Irrigation and then as PS Cooperatives was now transferred as Principal Secretary Local Bodies,also Vinni Mahajan who is on central deputation at present and considered close to Congress has been transferred as Principal Secretary (Health).
