Two-day transit remand for Thind

The Himachal Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) BS Thind,who was arrested on Saturday in Shimla,was today sent for two days of transit remand. He was arrested in a case of extortion filed against him by a businessman at Parwanoo police station in June 2007.

Judicial Magistrate Neeraj Goel,who was deputed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate,today went to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital,where Thind was admitted after he complained of chest pain soon after his arrest.

Sources said the results of different medical tests conducted were normal but Thind persisted of the chest pain. The doctors had said yesterday,since Thind was a heart patient will be kept under observation.

Earlier,the state police had,consulted the CJM on the matter as Thind was to be produced before the court today. Thind,who was recently placed under suspension,is facing series of cases of cheating and forgery and has also been in the CBI net.
