The police have cited old enmity as the reason behind the alleged firing incident that took place near Khuda Lahora bridge here last night in which a resident of Adarsh Nagar in Naya Gaon was injured.

The credentials of the complaint were said to be somewhat suspicious and the police said they were verifying whether the injury was actually caused by a bullet since the preliminary medical examination revealed that the wound was not from a bullet. “Though complainant Pawan Kumar is injured,we are verifying whether it was actually a bullet injury,” said Sukhbir Rana,Station House Officer of the Sector-11 police station.

Kumar has stated in the First Investigation Report that the two accused identified as Neetu, who was riding the bike and Bhura, who was riding pillion, fired at him from a pistol around 9.20 pm on Saturday night when he was returning home from Khuda Lahore. He has further stated that the two first passed by him but later returned saying they would teach him a lesson. “They have had an old rivalry and therefore according to the complainant, who used to work as an autorickshaw driver earlier, the two accused fired at him last night when he was on his way home,” said Tilak Raj,the investigating officer.
