Wanted criminal shot dead in encounter in UP

A notorious criminal,Rajesh alias Badri,an accused in the PC Jewellers robbery case at Panchkula,was shot dead by the police in Khergarh tehsil.

A notorious criminal,Rajesh alias Badri,an accused in the PC Jewellers robbery case at Panchkula,was shot dead on Tuesday by the police in Khergarh tehsil of Uttar Pradesh after a three-hour encounter. His two accomplices,Dara and Satish,managed to escape. Badri was wanted by the police forces of various states in a number of robbery,murder and extortion cases.

The Special Task Force of Ambala Range was involved in the operation along with the Uttar Pradesh Police,who intercepted Badri and shot him dead during an encounter. Badri figured in the most wanted list of Haryana Police,with a cash reward of Rs 1.5 lakh on his head. The UP Police,too,had kept a reward of Rs 5 lakh on him.

Badri was also wanted in a 2003 robbery case in Ambala,for a murder in Bhiwani (2008),for causing hurt by dangerous weapon in Delhi (2001),for an attempt to murder in Shimla (2003),a murder in Rohtak (2008),another case of causing hurt in Jhajjar (2001) and for criminal intimidation in Bhiwani (2010),besides the PC Jewellers robbery in 2010.

Originally from Jhajjar district,Badri had passed out from Bahadurgarh College. He took to crime after his father’s death. One of his six brothers works as an ASI with the Delhi Police.
