Woman held in connection with heroin haul

The State Special Operation Cell of counter-intelligence that cracked a major case yesterday by arresting a smuggler and recovering 14 kg of heroin valued at Rs 70 crore,on Tuesday arrested a woman identified as Sarabjit Kaur,wife of Angrej Singh,a resident of Baba Deep Singh Colony in Chhherta. Angrej himself is wanted by the police in the narcotics smuggling case.

About 750 grams of heroin was recovered from Kaur’s possession. The drugs were part of a big consignment which was recentlty smuggled by Angrej Singh and she was trying to dispose of the same in his absence. “Investigations are being conducted on different lines to unearth the complete nexus and network of this gang. More arrests are likely in soon. The Pakistan connection to the consignment is being probed,” said AIG Manminder Singh.
