Expelled leader V K Sasikala has sharply reacted to the AIADMK high command’s remark that she, T T V Dhinakaran and O Panneerselvam will not be readmitted into the party and said she would have never made a person from the Gounder community the chief minister—a reference to party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami.
“You should ask our cadres. I am common to everyone, I never considered any particular place as my hometown. I had never seen any caste differences, If I had seen one, I wouldn’t have made a person from the Gounder community the chief minister. I see them as cadres of Thalaivar (MGR) and Amma (Jayalalithaa). Even Amma never saw any differences. Even a person from a lower economical background was provided an MLA seat and she made them even ministers,” Sasikala told reporters in reply to a question on Friday.
Commenting on the meeting that expelled AIADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister Panneerselvam is organising at Tiruchirapalli on April 24, Sasikala said that if she got invited, the media would be the first to be informed about it.
Asked about Panneerselvam’s support for her after his removal from the AIADMK, Sasikala said it would take time for a few people to understand her. She hinted that other people who rejected her would also follow suit.
Sasikala said the DMK was not running a government for people’s welfare and that as the Opposition, the AIADMK was not functioning effectively owing to intra-party differences.
