1 killed,3 hurt in bus mishap

According to police,Jaishree Mehta Ben was crushed to death by a tourist bus as she was coming out of the Lotus Temple with her sister,Nain Ben. Nain has been admitted to a hospital with injuries.

“At about 5.40 pm,a tourist bus hit Jaishree and Nain,besides two other victims. Jaishree was declared dead on arrival at the AIIMS Trauma Centre. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the driver under Section 304-A,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Chaudhry.

A relative of the Mehta family,Dheerendra Kumar,said the two sisters had come from Gujarat with their husbands for the Charm Dham yatra. They had gone to the Lotus Temple when the incident happened.

The other victims have been identified as Fazal-ur-Rehman (32) and Aamir Navaid Khan (19). Police said the two were on a bike when the bus hit them from behind. According to relatives,Fazal’s condition is stable and Aamir was undergoing a leg surgery at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

Aamir’s father,Navaid-ul-Zafar said his brother and son were returning from Max hospital when the incident occurred. “My mother is undergoing treatment for an heart ailment at Max Hospital in Saket. My brother and son,who had gone to visit her,were returning home on their Hero Honda bike when the accident occurred. Aamir has suffered a severe leg injury and is still in operation theatre. Fazal is doing better,though he keeps fainting every now and then,” he said.

An ice-cream vendor outside the Lotus Temple,who witnessed the accident,said the bus was coming down a slope on the road when it hit the two women. “After hitting the women and the motorcycle,the driver got scared and ran away,” he added.
