2010 Games security: govt to hold meeting with participating countries

With 400-odd days left for the Commonwealth Games to begin,the government plans to hold a meeting with the Heads of Missions of the 71 Commonwealth countries on September 9 to apprise them of security measures.

With 400-odd days left for the Commonwealth Games to begin,the government plans to hold a meeting with the Heads of Missions of the 71 Commonwealth countries on September 9 to apprise them of security measures. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Home Secretary G K Pillai are likely to be a part of the interaction.

After the English team recently withdrew from badminton championship in Hyderabad citing security reasons,the government is keen to ensure all security concerns are allayed. A two-day meeting of security commanders of the Commonwealth countries on September 23 and 24 is also on the cards.
