20-year-old charred while trying to fix electric socket

A 20-year-old man was charred to death while fixing an electric socket at his uncle’s house in Mayur Vihar,East Delhi,on Friday night.

A 20-year-old man was charred to death while fixing an electric socket at his uncle’s house in Mayur Vihar,East Delhi,on Friday night.

Police said Rahul,a resident of Gharauli Dairy,was staying for the night at his uncle’s house in Mayur Vihar. His uncle,Subhash (50),was in Meerut to attend a wedding and had asked Rahul to stay over at his house.

Around midnight,police said,Rahul tried to fix a fused electric socket at the ground-floor house in Pocket-A.

“The plug short-circuited,which triggered a fire and Rahul was charred to death,” said a senior police officer investigating the case.

Rahul was a student of Class XII and also managed his father’s property business.

The neighbours called the police after noticing the fire. Rahul was rushed to a hospital,where he was declared dead.

Police have ruled out foul play in the incident.
