The DoE, under the Right to Education Act of 2009, mandates private schools in the Capital to admit at least 3% of strength at the entry level in the CWSN category (Archives)Two weeks after the Delhi Education Department conducted a computerised draw of lots for admission of students from the economically weaker section (EWS) and the disadvantaged group (DG) categories for entry-level classes in private unaided recognised schools, it is now preparing for the admission of students under the Children with Special Needs (CWSN) category in a similar manner on March 19.
A circular with the details of the procedure will be released in a day or two, said a senior official who was aware of the matter. In the same manner, as for the EWS and DG admissions, the selected students will be notified about their allocated schools on the same day.
As per an official circular dated January 3, the number of applications received under the category is fewer compared to the number of seats available. Citing this as the reason, the filing of online applications for the CWSN category from March 5 to 15 has been allowed, with the computerised draw of lots taking place on March 19.
The DoE, under the Right to Education Act of 2009, mandates private schools in the Capital to admit at least 3% of strength at the entry level in the CWSN category and provide free and compulsory education till completion of their elementary education.
“The computerised draw of lots will take place publicly in the same manner as it was conducted for the EWS/DG to ensure transparency,” said an official.
