The Delhi University will organise face-to-face counselling for SC/ST candidates who have not been allocated seats as part of the centralised admissions for such candidates.
The counselling will start on July 11 and will go on till July 15,with different days and time slots for students falling under different categories of aggregate percentages. The university will display the vacant seats on computer screens and students will be asked to fill up option forms for more preferences before the available seats are allocated according to merit.
Although a majority of seats under these categories have been
This year, students who were not happy with their allocation in the first list and surrendered their seat within the stipulated time, were accommodated again in the second list. Likewise, those who surrendered their second allocation seats will be called for face-to-face counselling. Until last year, there was no provision for change of allocated seats, Gurpreet Singh Tuteja,Deputy Dean Students Welfare, said.
A total of 12,427 SC candidates had applied for 7,446 seats for the upcoming academic session, while 2,599 ST candidates had applied for 3,723 seats.
Apart from many students who havent been allocated seats yet due to their combination of merit and college options, students who have not submitted all the required certificates have also not been allocated any seats. However,if they can still furnish the required documents, they will be considered in the next round of allocations,Tuteja said. As soon as these students furnish their missing documents,we will put them in the next allocation cycle, he said.
There is another category of students who did get an allocation but neither took admission, nor did they surrender their seats. These candidates are considered as Not Interested by the university and would not be considered for the face-to-face round of allocations. However,if a few seats still remain vacant, such students could be considered.
The university is also confident of wrapping up SC/ST admissions in half the time as compared to previous years. We have worked upon time optimisation and more options have been given to students as well. We are confident of completing the process in less than a month, Tuteja said.
