A black net, white and golden cocoon dress, high heels and golden foil earrings coiled up near the ear — this was Pakistani designer Fahad Hussayn’s first look on the ramp at The Hyatt Regency in Delhi on Thursday night. Hussayn, known for his avant-garde work, was one of the 16 designers from Pakistan who showcased pieces from their spring-summer collection. The event was held to highlight the inauguration of PFDC The Boulevard earlier in the day. This is the Pakistan Fashion Design Council’s first stand-alone store in Delhi.

Each designer showed three garments on the ramp, giving a glimpse of the collection at the store. While some like Nickie Nina stuck to bridal wear with saris and lehengas with chogas in mehendi green, red and golden,Elan fashion label went all glittery with an overdose of silver sparkling stones.

Feeha Jamshed stayed away from cliches — contemporary gowns in sky blue, wine red and cream with side slits and experimental lengths. Pakistani actor Mahira Khan walked the ramp for her, looking every bit a diva in a dull golden dress with hair tied up at the back.

Sonia Azhar,on her part, used velvet extensively with heavy frontal embellishments on the gown, and Nida Azwer stuck to traditional mughal farshis, bandhgalas and long kurtas. She had another Pakistani actor,Sonya Jehan,as her model, showcasing her designs in style.
