The Delhi Police said they have received the forensic report for the bomb blast, which occurred outside the Delhi High Court a month ago. The report stated that ammonium nitrate was used to prepare the bomb, which went off near a lawyers car parked outside the Delhi High Court on June 25.
Though rusted iron nails were laid in a single row along the explosives to cause maximum damage,it did not happen as the bomb failed to explode properly, police said.
We received the forensic report, which stated that a small quantity of ammonium nitrate was used for preparing the explosives, a senior investigating officer said.
Police said they received the report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). However, the report added that no timer was attached to the bomb, which was concealed in a red plastic box and then wrapped in the May 1 edition of a Hindi newspaper.
The weight of the explosives was around 750 gm,and the explosion seemed to have been carried out with the intention of creating panic, the officer added.
The Special Cell of the Delhi Police, which is investigating the case, has not been able to make any arrests in the case. The persons responsible for the blast are also yet to be identified.
The weight of the black canvas bag,in which the bomb was found, was two kg as it also contained two rusted batteries that are commonly used in two-wheelers. The batteries, which were assembled manually, did not belong to any particular brand, police said.
The report said the accused deliberately used old and rusted components while making the bomb in order to confuse investigators. The red plastic box, which contained the explosives, was meant to exude maximum pressure.
An unidentified person had placed the bag under the Ford Figo car of a lawyer,Rajat Jain,as soon as he alighted from it. A parking attendant, who saw fumes emanating from under the car, pulled it out immediately and dropped it near its front wheel, where it exploded.
