Four police officers arrested last week for allegedly accessing the call detail records of various persons illegally were denied bail by a city court on Wednesday.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Gopal Das,Head Constable Harish Singh Negi,Constable Harish Kumar,Home Guard Mehraj Saife and private detectives Puneet Verma and Alok Gupta were arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with the illegal accessing of CDRs of 52 persons including politicians,bureaucrats,corporate heads and journalists.
The case was reported earlier this year after attempts were made to access the CDRs of BJP leader Arun Jaitley.
During arguments before the court of Magistrate Amit Bansal on Wednesday,the prosecution said the FSL reports on the forms to access the CDRs had revealed that the accused were involved in the incidents. Investigating officers said Raj Kumar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Gopal Das who was arrested on Thursday,had accessed the CDRs by sending a request illegally through the email ID of ACP (Khajuri Khas),Northeast district.
Of the 52 CDRs that had been compromised,police found 22 to have been accessed from the offices of the (ACP) in Khajoori Khas,Samaypur Badli and Shahdara.
