Allottees of the Delhi Development Authority Housing Scheme-2010 will get their apartments by year-end. The land agency claims that it has already sent out 12,000 demand letters, and more people will be given letters by September 15.
Around 2,000 allottees may, however, have to wait longer as some housing projects are still under construction. We have already given out 12,000 demand letters. Since the last date for handing over the demand letter is September 15,the process will continue till then. In a few cases, however, intimation letters will be sent out to inform allottees that the process of handing over flats will be delayed as their housing projects are still under construction. The demand letter will be given to them at a later date. The fact that some housing projects are still under construction, and may be delayed, was also mentioned in the brochure. Most of the housing projects, which are falling behind schedule, are located in Dwarka, a DDA official said.
People on the waiting list for allotment may have to wait a little longer before they are told if they have been allotted flats or not. Around 300 people have surrendered their flats, but they will be allotted to people on the waiting list only at a later stage, an official said.
Under the scheme, around 16,000 people have been allotted flats in areas such as Vasant Kunj,Mukherjee Nagar,Motia Khan,Jasola,Dwarka,Rohini,Narela,Kondli and Gharoli. There are one,two and three-bedroom flats, with prices ranging from Rs nines lakh to Rs 1.2 crore.
In Vasant Kunj, where 2,700 flats have come up for allotment, issues such as providing water supply and flats violating height clearances also have to be sorted out. The DDA also has to resolve issues such as supply of water to the flats.
According to the Shunglu Committee report, the flats in Vasant Kunj are four metres almost an entire floor more than the required height clearance, a source said. The land agency has to demolish the illegal portion before alloting the flats.
