(Express Photo)While people across the world are watching India’s development, the Aam Aadmi Party’s model of development in Delhi has remained a failed one, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said in the national capital on Monday.
Naidu was addressing a press conference after campaigning to appeal to Telugu voters in particular and Delhi voters in general to vote for the BJP.
“For the last 10 years, in Delhi, the governance has totally failed. It is a failed model, I can say… It is not good for the nation,” Naidu said. “Without creating wealth, what right do politicians have to distribute wealth? What is the model (of development)? We have given doles, they say. But where is the creation of wealth?”
In both Punjab and Delhi, AAP has failed miserably, he said, adding, “Everyone is worried to stay in Delhi because of both weather pollution and political pollution. Both are dangerous for health.”
He said the AAP has stalled infrastructure development and even the welfare measures implemented by the Centre because of the “ego problem” the party has with the BJP. “In terms of infrastructure, long ago the Metro has come. After that there is nothing,” he said. Neither water, nor hospitals, nor urban infrastructure have come up in Delhi, Naidu said.
Central schemes including AMRUT, Jal Jeevan and Swachh Bharat are not being implemented in the capital, he said. “There is no difference between drainage water and drinking water in Delhi… Yamuna is the most polluted river. During the past 10 years, what have you done to control pollution?”
“Earlier, people used to come to Delhi to make their career. This is our capital, our pride. Now people are leaving Delhi for other places to make a living or opportunities,” Naidu said.
He alleged that the AAP government talks of corruption, but indulged in the liquor scam, “which is the worst scam”.
The central budget, he said, “is on the right track”. “Always one should be on the right track, right place, with right people,” Naidu said. “Common man is becoming the middle class. Middle class has aspirations to reach the next level,” he said, adding the Rs 12 lakh tax exemption is valuable
Naidu called the AAP government a “half-engine sarkar”. “What is required is a double engine government,” Naidu said. “Ideology has become irrelevant, performance has become relevant. You are talking about ideology, I am talking about development. There is a lot of difference between the two. You be on the right side, not the left side. Then you can move forward.”
