In a move that may help minimise chances of fake admissions or detect them by making all information related to admissions public, Delhi University (DU) has asked colleges to adhere to its directive of uploading admission details such as the common pre-admission form (OMR) numbers, Class XII scores and reservation benefits under different quotas, if any, claimed by the students who met the eligibility criteria this year. The directive was issued on Monday, senior officials said.
The university has received complaints that certain colleges had given admission based on “tinkered” OMR forms, which have new course options allegedly filled in after wards.
Last week, a professor at a DU college had alleged that the college principal was involved in an admission fraud under the extra-curricular activities (ECA) quota. The principal refuted the allegations.

DU authorities said several cases of alleged fake admissions were reported to the varsity after it asked colleges to admit fresh batch of undergraduate students. Some even pertain to admission through forged OMR sheet, caste certificates and even marksheets.
The admission process this year is still under way and nearly 70,000 students have enrolled themselves so far. DU recently announced the schedule for its eighth, ninth and tenth cutoff lists.
With police cracking down on a fake admission racket involving at least 22 students, university authorities, however, ruled out any action just yet, saying it was the prerogative of colleges to handle such cases.
“It is the college’s job to make sure all admissions are in proper order. University can only issue guidelines, it can’t intervene unless colleges or the police ask for university to help, in which case the university can set up an inquiry committee to look into the matter,” an official said.
