Following a public interest litigation seeking removal of encroachment and illegal construction from pavements and roads,the Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the city government.
A division bench of Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw also sought a response from the Delhi Development Authority,the three civic agencies and police on the issue and posted the matter for February 16.
The PIL,filed by Anil Dutt Sharma,sought removal of encroachment,illegal constructions on pavements,covered roadside drains,parking places,common areas,green lands and to clear roads,lanes,parks,parking areas and common places for free traffic flow.
Appearing for the petitioner,advocate Asit Kumar Roy said Sharma had filed various RTI applications seeking information on encroachment and unauthorised constructions. Such activities are causing road accidents,road rage,traffic jams,mental agony and harassment and several other problems, the plea said.
The petitioner also sought appropriate legal or departmental action against officials concerned.
