To provide access to existing and proposed colonies in Gurgaon, real estate developers will have to secure right of way (RoW) by purchasing land on their own from the land owners.

The Town and Country Planning Department has decided to form a three-member committee of developers for each sector to purchase land falling under the 24-metre RoW.

These decisions were taken at a meeting called to find a solution to the right of way for residents of existing and upcoming colonies. Road connectivity has become a major problem for residents of licensed colonies.

The committee of developers will have to draw up a sector-wise schedule for land falling under the 24-metre road. It will also identify licensed khasra numbers and determine ownership in the unlicensed pockets.

The committee has also been authorised to finalise sector-wise rates to be offered to land owners for purchase of unlicensed land parcels forming part of the 24-metre RoW.

But it is not as if the committee has been vested all rights — a state committee will examine efforts made by the committee and ensure that land owners get their what is due to them.
