Gizmos to spice up your home

Leading electronics firms have put their products on display at the inaugural edition of Home Electronics Show (HES) 2012,which began on Friday.

Organised by ITEN Media in association with Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers’ Association,the exhibition — billed as India’s take on the Consumer Electronics Show — will be on till Sunday.

Around 30 companies are participating in the event that features high-end cameras,refrigerators,washing machines and television sets,among others.

Here are a few gadgets that caught our attention.

Yamaha ISX-800

This is a rather arty music player with fairly good sound. It can play music from CDs,pendrives and iPods. It also has an FM radio and can double up as your alarm clock. The volume is pretty good and it handles bass and details well. Yamaha said it will be available in India next month for around Rs 53,000.

LG 84” Ultra HD TV

LG launched an 84-inch Ultra HD 3D TV with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. This is among the TVs to feature 4K resolution,which is better than HD. The TV also lets users watch 3D content and access the Internet with built-in WiFi. The price: Rs 17 lakh.

Photofast

i-FlashDrive HD

Taiwanese company Photofast showcased its unique iPhone/iPad accessory for external storage — i-FlashDrive HD. Users need to install iTunes to transfer files from a computer to an iOS device. i-FlashDrive HD acts like a pendrive for your iOS device,except that your average pendrive does not cost approximately $85 for 8GB. Coming to India soon.

Yamaha YSP-3300

Another of Yamaha’s new gadgets was a “sound projector”. The company claims that the walls in your house will reflect sound from the projector to create a surround-sound experience. The estimated price: Rs 90,000.
