With the Allahabad High Court deciding to hear cases of land acquisition in Greater Noida regularly from September 12,the Greater Noida Authority has decided to strengthen its case that the acquisitions were done legally,in good spirit and for development of the region.
If the need arises, the Authority said it was ready to offer a revised compensation package just as it had done in the case of Patwari village.
Greater Noida Authority CEO Rama Raman told Newsline that after 1,200 villagers accepted the revised package, they have the nod from most for a settlement.
We will have to focus on proving the legality and justification for land acquisition before the Allahabad High Court. If the larger bench gives us time to do a settlement with villagers,we will do that just as in Patwari, he said.
Raman said there are sectors where people have begun living and it will be difficult to evict them if there are orders to return and reacquire land.
We have done development in the region which has also benefited farmers. We have developed residential colonies, many people have found homes in Greater Noida. We too have invested in making the place fit for industrial and residential development, he said.
