I-League final qualifying round from April 30

The final round of the second division I-League will be held in Bangalore from April 30 to May 25,the AIFF announced on Monday.

The final round of the second division I-League will be held in Bangalore from April 30 to May 25,the AIFF announced on Monday.

Eight teams will play in a round robin league and the top two will qualify for the next edition of the I-League first division.

The eight teams in the final round qualified by finishing among the top two in the three preliminary rounds held in new Delhi (Group B ),Tinsukia and Digboi (Group C) and Bangalore (Group A).

While Sesa Goa Football Academy and ONGC qualified from Delhi,Kerala’s Malabar United and HAL,Bangalore qualified from Group A and NISA (Manipur) and Oil India (Assam) got through from Group C.

Mohammedan Sporting and Vasco Goa got direct entries into the final round of qualification by virtue of their having played in the I-League in the previous season.

From Group B that was played in Delhi,Sesa Goa emerged the best team,winning five of their six games in the preliminary league to top the grup with 15 points. ONGC (Mumbai) finished with 13 points,winning four games and drawing and losng one each.
