Some recent music performances by international biggies in the Capital might not have gone well, but that has not deterred musicians to travel all the way to India. Last week,Delhis hip nightclub,LAP,played host to Swedish Grammy Award nominee DJ Avicii. The 21-year-old,who become an instant hit with the 2008 track Lazy Lace, gave a smashing performance as he played some of his most popular mixes. This is my first time in India and Im thrilled with the crowd here, said the DJ,who performed in Bengaluru and Mumbai over the weekend.
Ranked among the top deejays in the world,Avicii first got interested in Electronic Dance Music when he heard the French music duo Daft Punk. His other influences include Steve Angello,Eric Prydz and Sebastian Ingrosso. And though he confesses that he hasnt listened to a lot of Indian music, the little that he has heard has caught his fancy. India is growing in terms of music. Its a great destination to explore. The country has really opened up to EDM, says Avicii, who hopes to collaborate with Indian musicians.
