A 35-year-old man was killed while two others sustained bullet injuries in an incident of shootout in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the police said on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Deepak alias Patrakar.

The Jahangirpuri police station received information from Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital regarding a man brought with multiple bullet injuries, who was declared dead, a senior police officer said. Later, two more injured persons, Narendra and Suraj, were admitted to the hospital, the officer added.

DCP Abhishek Dhania said, “Preliminary investigation showed that the incident occurred near a park on 900 Wali Gali in Jahangirpuri’s D Block, when Deepak, his brother and his associates had a dispute with Narendra and Suraj… Both the parties opened fire at each other.”

During the crossfire, Deepak was shot four times on his neck, back and both legs, Narendra and Suraj, meanwhile, sustained injuries on the back and leg, respectively, the officer said.

“An investigation into the matter has been initiated after registering an FIR… Both Narendra and Suraj have been detained and we are looking for others involved in the shooting,” said the DCP.
