L-G urges people to observe Earth Hour tomorrow

Delhi to observe Earth Hour by switching off lights for an hour on March 29 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Describing climate change as the “greatest challenge of our times”, Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday asked the people of Delhi to observe Earth Hour by switching off lights for an hour on March 29 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Around 7,000 cities around the world are expected to take part in the event. “Citizens must participate in the campaign and also take it beyond an hour and adopt energy-saving measures into their daily lives,” Jung said.

He called upon students to plant more trees, avoid using plastic bags, and concentrate on the three ‘Rs’ — reduce, re-use and re-cycle. “It is only when citizens come together and join hands that such campaigns for action against climate change can be successful,” Jung said.
