Man gets 7-yr jail for kidnapping,raping minor

A Delhi court has sentenced a man to 7 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor for almost a week.

A Delhi court has sentenced a man to seven years rigorous imprisonment for raping his minor neighbour for almost a week after taking her away to a place at Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

Dismissing the claim of convict Ali Sher that the victim was a consenting party,Additional Sessions Judge S K Sarvaria said she had unequivocally supported the case and indicted him in her testimony.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,500 on the convict after holding him guilty under section 363 (kidnapping) and 376 (rape) of the IPC.

The father of the girl had lodged a complaint on October 11,2006 with the police alleging that his 14-year-old girl was missing.

He suspected the role of the convict in the offence claiming that Ali Sher,father of three children,was also missing from his home in south Delhi.

Almost a week after the incident,police got a tip-off about the whereabouts of the victim and the convict.

The girl was rescued from a bus stand at Agra and the accused,who attempted to flee,was nabbed.

The victim,in her statement before the police and in the court,alleged the accused forcibly took her away to Agra and raped her. Lending credence to the victim’s statement,the court dismissed the plea of award of lenient punishment.
