Man held for hitting constable

Wanted for assaulting two Delhi Police officials and fleeing with their service revolvers,a criminal has finally landed in police net. Raju Sabir was arrested on Thursday by the Crime Branch.

Police officers said that on March 12,head constable Omkar Singh was patrolling his beat,when four men assaulted him. Singh was beaten up with a baseball bat and left bleeding. He was found unconscious by morning walkers and rushed to Hedgewar Hospital from where he was transferred to AIIMS. He is still in coma. Police officers said that in June,the Crime Branch had arrested one Imam,who confessed he had attacked the cop on Sabir’s orders.

“Raju told us that in March this year,he had gifted a stolen mobile phone to his girlfriend,Laxmi,who lives in Nand Nagri. Omkar Singh managed to trace Laxmi and placed her under arrest. Sabir assaulted the policeman with three of his friends to take revenge,” a senior police officer said.The police said Raju had also assaulted a constable posted in Anand Vihar last year.
