A 28-year-old man died after allegedly being stabbed by two brothers when he tried to stop them from harassing a woman in Northeast Delhi on Friday night, said police.

The victim, Manish, was a cable operator.

Police said his uncle, Krishan Kumar, alerted the Nand Nagri police station about the incident.

“He alleged that his nephew, Manish aka Rahul, noticed the accused, Salman and Arbaz, harassing a woman at H Block Park near Gali No. 1 in Sunder Nagri. When he intervened, a confrontation broke out between them, in which the victim scolded the two brothers asking them to leave the place. Initially they left after threatening him. However, a few hours later, the brothers returned and stabbed Manish with a sharp weapon (ghupti) on the right side of his neck,” police said, adding that Manish succumbed to injuries at 4.32 am during treatment.

Police said the accused as well as the victim have a criminal history. During investigation of the case, police found Rahul’s involvement in four cases. Salman, 33, who runs a tea stall, was previously involved in a case of attempt to murder, and Arbaz, 22, a labourer, was involved in a case of snatching, said police.
