Haryana Roadways is all set to expand its operations in Gurgaon by adding more buses and three new routes to the existing four. The new routes will become operational from May 28.
Director General (State Transport) Arun Kumar on Friday said the response to the bus service launched recently has been phenomenal. Encouraged by this,the Haryana Roadways is adding three more routes.
The three new routes will be between Sector 29 Huda City Centre Metro station to Sohna Road Badshahpur,Basai Chowk to Gurgaon bus stand,Palam Vihar to Gurgaon bus stand .
He said at present,Haryana Roadways is operating four routes in Gurgaon. These are Manesar to Karol Bagh (New Delhi),Dundahera to Gurgaon bus stand,Kendriya Vihar in Sector 56 to Gurgaon bus stand via Sikandarpur Metro station and Gurgaon railway station to Sector 29 Metro station.
Haryana Roadways is plying 36 buses including 25 semi low-floor buses,five fully fabricated AC buses and six specially designed standard buses. The roadways is adding 20 more buses in its city fleet within 10 days. This includes 10 semi low-floor buses and 10 specially designed standard buses.
Kumar said Haryana Roadways would ply 55-60 buses to cater to all parts of Gurgaon. The service will be at a frequency of eight to 10 minutes on all seven routes.
The city bus service is being operated in two shifts from 6 am to 2 pm and from 2.30 pm to 11 pm.
The fare for these services is also very reasonable. According to officials,in normal buses,the fare for a distance of up to 8 km has been fixed at Rs 5,up to 16 km at Rs10 and up to 24 km at Rs15. For AC buses,the fare for Rs10 for 10 km, Rs15 for 15 km and for Rs 20 for 20 km.
