Now, beneficiaries seeking an Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) certificate no longer have to make rounds of government offices to get the job done.
To make the process easy, the Delhi government has launched a provision for them on the e-district portal.
With this, people coming under the EWS category can apply for the ‘Income and Assets Certificate for Economically Weaker Section’ on the portal and receive the certificate online.
The Delhi government recently issued a circular to all revenue districts, district magistrates, and sub-divisional magistrates, informing them about the decision.
“All Sub-Divisional Magistrates (i.e. Issuing Authority) concerned are hereby informed that the service of ‘Income and Assets Certificate for Economically Weaker Section’ has been launched (ie. go-live) on the e-district portal with immediate effect and the aforesaid certificate will be issued through online mode only henceforth with,” read the circular.
Further, it was clarified that the manual applications received for the EWS certificate prior to the launch of the online service shall be disposed of manually by the Issuing Authority as per the prescribed timeline.
The pending certificates will be issued this month onwards.
EWS certificates are important documents needed to secure admissions in colleges, schools and government jobs under the EWS category.
Candidates belonging to this category should have a family income of less than Rs 8 lakh per annum.
