Industrialist was inside Rolls Royce that hit tanker on e-way, says SP Nuh

The injured from the car — Divya and Tasveer from Chandigarh, and Vikas from Gurgaon — are in hospital, police said. Sources at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon said the industrialist was among three injured. “We have sent a team to get the statement of Vikas; we will then ascertain if he was driving at the time,” the SP added.

According to police, the car was part of a cavalcade of 14 other vehicles and they passed a toll plaza without being stopped. “We spoke to staff at the toll plaza who thought the cars were part of a minister’s cavalcade as one of the vehicles had a siren. Later, the Rolls Royce Phantom overtook the rest at a very high speed. A truck was also going on the same road and the car rammed into it,” said SP Bijarnia.

He added that the other vehicles arrived and took the passengers in the Rolls Royce with them.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of Munil Yadav, a resident of UP’s Azamgarh, under IPC sections including rash driving, death by negligence, and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others.

It stated: “I was travelling with my vehicle on the Delhi-Mumbai Highway. Our company’s diesel tanker was (on the same road) driven by Ramprit, Kuldeep and Gautam Kumar. Around 11.30 am, a reckless driver of a Rolls Royce Phantom came from behind, driving at high speed, and collided with the side of the diesel tanker. This caused the tanker driver to lose control and the vehicle overturned. (Just as) the car’s three occupants (got out), it caught fire.

Shortly after, another vehicle arrived, and they left for Delhi. I immediately pulled out the tanker driver and his companion from the vehicle. We took them to Nalhar government medical college, where doctors declared Ramprit and Kuldeep dead. The driver of the car… caused the accident by driving at high speed and recklessly.”

Earlier, police said they had sent a notice to a company under which the vehicle is registered and would arrest the driver as soon as they were out of hospital.
