Two days after a temple in Nangla Nangli village in Noida was allegedly demolished by officials of the Jaypee Group,the police registered cases against against Sameer Gaur,MD Jaypree Infratech Limited,and three senior officials of the companyAshok Khera,Dilbag Singh and Mangal Singh.
According to the complaint filed by Vijay Chauhan,a village resident,four senior officials of the Jaypee Group came to the temple on Friday night,confined and beat up two priests and razed the temple using a JCB vehicle.
According to villagers,the Group intended to build a school on the site. The people in the temple were told to leave. When the priests resisted,they were beaten up, said a police officer.
Jaypee Group officials,however,denied the charges of assault but said the site had been acquired by them five years ago. When we got the land,there was no temple on it. The people of the area built it recently and are now trying to occupy the land, a Jaypee Group spokesperson said.
We are investigating the case thoroughly as it is a sensitive issue. contingents have been dispatched to the village to maintain law and order, a police officer said.
