While the Delhi Election Commission announced the last summary revision of the electoral roll on September 9,the electoral roll will continue to be updated till the last date of filing of nominations. To rectify the errors published in the electoral roll and facilitate the voters in correcting their details, the state election commission has now launched SMS-based grievance registration.
We consider it a major step in empowering citizens in the electoral process as the grievance registered through SMS reaches the central database. It was also felt by the Election Commission of India to use mobile technology in a big way, Chief Election Officer Vjay Dev said.
Special monitoring cells have also been created at the district level and the election headquarters. Voters need to send an SMS to 9211728082.
Earlier there was no monitoring of grievance redressal. But now this office will monitor the number of complaints registered and the number of corrections made. Correction of errors will now be the focus point, Dev said.
