The internal strife at St Stephen’s College reached the Supreme Court on Tuesday with former Governing Body member Ajay P Singha seeking a stay on a High Court order that allowed Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi to attend meetings of the body.

On February 8,the court had upheld the nomination of Quraishi to the Governing Body by college principal Valson Thampu.

“The Bench passed the order on the basis of erroneous facts and which are contrary to the records of the case,” the petition argued. A special Bench led by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan will hear the case on March 26.
