Addressing a sparsely attended jansabha in Malkaganj in the Timarpur constituency, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Saturday emphasised the ‘pro-poor” policies of the Central government. Less than 200 people were present at the sabha and they greeted the Union Minister with a polite applause. The party’s CM candidate Kiran Bedi, found a mention only a handful of times in the Minister’s 10-minute speech, and only in the context of needing a “strong administrator” to control the law and order in the capital. “The elections are here again within a year because last year, the people of Delhi made a mistake,” Swaraj said. She then urged the people to “make reparations for the mistake” by giving the BJP a “shuddh bahumat” (full majority) this time. Timarpur MLA candidate Rajni Abbi, who addressed the sabha briefly, also failed to mention any manifesto promises and only spoke of the AAP’s mistakes and the Congress’s failure to “bring any development” in Delhi. ‘When there is a storm, a person’s eyes get blinded by the sand. Now the people of Delhi have wiped the sand away from their eyes and can see clearly,” Abbi said.
