Police had initially zeroed in on the possible suspects after CCTV footage in the vicinity showed two men on a motorbike exiting the block at around 12.30 am with a small girl. “Our teams questioned nearly 40 motorists who were in the area during the incident. However, none of them matched those in the footage. In another CCTV footage, two boys were seen walking with a girl. We began searching for the boys,” said an officer.

The officer added, “It seemed the accused is someone familiar to the girl. We questioned several people who had police complaints against them or who were involved in previous disputes. It lead us to the two juveniles, who lived 10 yards away from the girl’s house.”
