The special fast-track court on Thursday examined the investigation officer in the alleged rape case of a woman executive by an Uber cab driver.
Testifying as a prosecution witness in the case, sub-inspector Renu told Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that the woman had identified the accused, Shiv Kumar Yadav, on December 8, 2014, outside the court room.
Describing how the woman identified Yadav, the sub-inspector said the woman had come to record her statement before Metropolitan Magistrate Riya Guha in court room No.247. Yadav was coming out from court room No.264 presided by Metropolitan Magistrate Ambika Singh.
As he was coming out, Yadav removed his muffler saying he was feeling suffocated, the sub-inspector said. The woman, who was at the same time coming out from another court room, spotted him and identified him.
On Wednesday, the forensic expert had told the court that samples taken from the Uber cab, in which the alleged rape took place, had matched the DNA profiling of the accused and the woman.
