Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday launched the ‘Rythu Nestham’ program.

The program will help connect farmers with agriculture experts through videoconferences from 2,601 ‘Rythu Vedikas’ (farmer centres). The experts will give suggestions to farmers on the crops to cultivate and advanced farming techniques from time to time.

The CM said the new digital program will also provide a platform for agriculture experts to directly interact with farmers and understand the challenges at the field level.

The government will support the farmers in the supply of seeds, fertilisers, and the sale of crops, Revanth Reddy added.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said video conference units were being set up in 110 assembly constituencies on an experimental basis in the first phase.

The state agriculture department took this program up with the help of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University. The government sanctioned Rs 97 crore for the program, the deputy CM further said.

Some more programs will be launched in collaboration with the farmers in the future, the CM said.

Revanth Reddy emphasized that farmers should get maximum profits for their produce and added that the government was working out plans to make this happen. The CM then mentioned a slew of farmer welfare schemes like Rythu Bharosa, loan waivers, and the purchase of crops through IKP centres, among others.

The CM said Telangana is blessed with suitable land and climate to grow around 26 different types of crops and hence the farmers should not only cultivate paddy, cotton, and chilli but also other crops to earn more profits.
