Anna shadow on IIT-Kgp convocation

A group of IIT-Kharagpur students has announced that they would not accept their degrees at the annual convocation on Monday in support of Anna Hazare’s protest against the Lokpal Bill.

A group of IIT-Kharagpur students has announced that they would not accept their degrees at the annual convocation on Monday in support of Anna Hazare’s protest against the Lokpal Bill. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to attend the convocation.

A section of students,however,said that they would accept the degrees but would be wearing the Gandhi caps.

“Accepting degree from Prime Minister is a lifetime experience ,but I think if I should accept my degree from the prime minister only in a situation we have a strong lokpal,” said Singh,who has started teaching at MJ College of Engineering,Hyderabad.

Since the last six days,students have bene demonstrating outside the institute. “There are about 200 students who have joined us in the fast. Some have kept fast for a day,some for few days,” said Ritesh Singh,who has been fasting from August 16.
