According to police sources,a group of armed CPM cadres attacked Sirsita village late last night. Armed Trinamool men,who were holding a meeting inside the village, retaliated.

Both the parties are, meanwhile, pointing fingers at each other.

Trinamool leaders alleged that after the debacle in the Lok Sabha polls CPM cadres have unleashed a reign of terror in the area. “A group of CPM-led goons hurled bombs at our activists in which one of our supporters died and seven were injured,” said Nurul Islam,Trinamool Congress block president.

A CPM leader, however, said the person died while manufacturing bombs.
