Mamata urges doctors to join TMC-backed body

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requested doctors to join the Trinamool Congress-backed doctors’ association — Progressive Service Doctors’ Association — at a gathering held at Town Hall on Saturday.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requested doctors to join the Trinamool Congress-backed doctors’ association — Progressive Service Doctors’ Association — at a gathering held at Town Hall on Saturday.

The government did not invite doctors belonging to CPI-M backed association — Association of Health Service Doctors (AHSD) — to the meeting.

Secretary,AHSD,Dr Satyajit Chakraborty said the programme was aimed at wooing doctors from every discipline so that they could join the TMC-backed association.

While addressing the doctors,Banerjee said the office of the TMC-backed association is situated at 20,Priyanath Mullick Lane,opposite Bhowanipore police station,and association’s convenor Nirmal Maji will help doctors deal with their problems.

Railway minister Mukul Roy,who was also present at the meeting,also urged doctors to join their association.

She stressed on the need for providing better service to patients with the available infrastructure and assured that based on the performance of the doctors they will be rewarded.
