The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police Friday produced suspected IM operative Anwar Hussain Mullick in a city court, and for the first time, submitted before it that Mullick had definite links with Yasin Bhatkal. Bhatkal, who had been involved in the supply of explosives to Indian Mujahideen operatives across India, was arrested at the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar on Thursday.
Anwar was arrested by the STF on July 6 this year in a fake currency case, and is in judicial custody.
He had reportedly admitted to Kolkata Police that he had been in regular contact with Bhatkal.
On Friday, public prosecutor Krishna Chandra Das told the court about Mullicks links with Bhatkal and that Mullick allegedly supplied explosives to him.
The police had recovered gelatin sticks (detonators) and other material for the explosives, fake currency of Rs 1.90 lakh and important documents from him, which established his involvement with the terrorist group,Das said.
Mullick was a resident of Ranibandh village, which borders Bangladesh. He ran a shop there. An STF official said that Mullick ferried explosives from Bangladesh.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrates court rejected Mullicks bail petition and remanded him in custody till September 13.
