Narasimha Rao’s exoneration wrong: Left Front

The Left Front on Tuesday said that it was wrong on the part of the Liberhan Commission, which probed the Babri Masjid demolition,to have absolved former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao.

The Left Front on Tuesday said that it was wrong on the part of the Liberhan Commission, which probed the Babri Masjid demolition,to have absolved former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao.

“It was wrong to have exonerated Rao who was repeatedly warned by the then West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu, but did nothing,” Left Front Chairman Biman Bose told mediapersons after a meeting of the Front committee.

Demanding that the guilty be punished as it was a serious assault on the secular and democratic foundations of the country,Bose said,“It is surprising that the Action Taken Report does not contain any measure of punitive action or legal prosecution.”

He said that Left Front would observe December 6 as a day against communalisation of politics and the silence of the Liberhan Commission on the role of Rao.
