As many as 29 IAS officers of UP cadre are yet to submit their Immovable Property Return (IPR) statements for 2010,despite the submission deadline being extended four times.
The names of the defaulting officers are displayed on the website of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Some of the defaulters are Susheel Kumar,Principal Secretary Agriculture and Minor Irrigation department,Bhupendra Singh,Secretary General inter-nation Jute study group Dhaka,Sanjeev Kumar,Commissioner Rural Development and Commissioner National Rural Employment Guarantee Project,and Aparna U,Additional Commissioner,Trade Tax,Noida.
The list also has the name of recently suspended former Commissioner in the National Capital Region Cell of UP government Promilla Shanker.
On being contacted,Sanjeev Kumar said that he had sent his statements to the Appointment Department of the UP government in February and again forwarded it last week. Aparna U,too,said that she had given the IPR to Appointment Department.
Promilla Shanker,Bhupendra Singh,Secretary General inter-nation Jute study group Dhaka,and Susheel Kumar,Principal Secretary Agriculture and Minor Irrigation department,could not be reached despite several attempts.
Joint Secretary of Appointment Department Surendra Pratap Singh said that they had forwarded the IPR of most officers whose list was sent by the DoPT. Last week,the IPRs have been forwarded to DoPT, he said,adding that the list sent by the department had names of some retired IAS officers also.
The DoPT,in a letter dated December 22,2010,asked the chief secretaries to send IPRs of all IAS officers for year 2010,by February 15. Later,the DoPT extended the deadline till March 26. Then,in another circular dated April 4,DoPT further extended the time till April 20. Lastly,the DoPT sent the reminder asking for the IPRs by May 31,after which the names of defaulting officials were posted on the website of the department,which is the cadre-controlling authority. The DoPT had also sent the list of defaulting officers to the UP government.
