A 40-acre forest land situated in Chak Gajaria farm is proving to be an obstacle for Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadavs ambitious development plans here.
As the land comes under the purview of Forest (Conservation) Act 1980 and non-forestry use is permissible only after diversion of forest land, state has to approach the MoEF for persmission.
Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani had in July asked officials to initiate process for getting forest, environment and pollution clearance.
However,to date, the state government has not sought MoEFs permission.
Akhilesh Yadav government has chalked out development projects and alloted 840-acre Chak Gajaria farm.
This includes an IT city (100 acres),IIIT (50 acres),an administrative training institute (25 acres),dairy (25 acres),medicity (100 acres),cardiology hospital (20 acres),residential areas (180 acres),mixed use area (156 acres) and commercial areas (64 acres).
However,40 acres in Mastemau village, part of the Chak Gajaria farm,is forest land. For setting up industries here,MoEF nod is a must.
Though we have not sent any letter to the state government, the issue is already in our notice. We will be taking appropriate action when the state government moves an application, a senior MoEF official added.
