Arsenal found in house,cop on the run

A light machine gun along with two empty magazines,a hand-grenade,six countrymade firearms and cartridges were recovered from the house of a sub-inspector of Uttar Pradesh police.

A light machine gun along with two empty magazines,a hand-grenade,six countrymade firearms and cartridges were recovered from the house of a sub-inspector of Uttar Pradesh police in Alapur police station area of Budaun district on Wednesday. DK Chaudhary,the Senior Superintendent of Police,Budaun,said Sub-Inspector Sanjay Bharadwaj was facing 12 criminal cases ¿ including rioting,vehicle theft and custody death registered in Buduan,Ghaziabad,Lucknow and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

He had earlier been posted with the Noida police and was transferred to Chitrakoot in May,but had not joined duty. Chaudhary said they raided Bharadwaj’s house at his Alapur home following a tip-off.

Bhardwaj’s wife and children live in Meerut and two domestic helps look after the house in Budaun. They told the police that the SI had visited the house five days ago. Chaudhary said they have sought help of experts to get the manufacturing details of the LMG and the hand grenade. A case under the Arms Act and the Explosives Act has been registered against Bharadwaj.
