In a bid to attract more tourists to Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to construct 6 entry gates-cum-complexes in Ayodhya. These buildings will be named after Ram, Laxman, Bharat, Hanuman, Garuda and Jatayu.
These ‘gate complexes’ will have tourist facilitation centres alongside budget hotels, guest houses, tourist centres, and tourism offices. Art and craft galleries, food courts, cafeterias, restaurants, amphitheaters, multi-level parking facilities, green areas as well as EV charging stations have also been planned for the upcoming complexes.
According to the Uttar Pradesh tourism department, Jatayu Gate will have the largest tourist facilitation centre out of the six tourist facilitation centres (TFCs) planned in Ayodhya as entry gates.
Officials informed that this facilitation centre near Jatayu Gate will be located on Ambedkar Nagar Road and the tourist centre at this gate would be spread over area of 5.76 hectares. On the other hand, a facilitation centre at Shri Ram Gate will be developed on Lucknow-Ayodhya Road over 4.91 hectares.
The centre at Lakshman Gate will be developed on Gonda-Ayodhya Road over 4.5 hectares; Bharat Gate, which will be on Sultanpur Road will be about 2.04 hectares; Hanuman Gate on Gorakhpur Road will be about 3.59 hectares. Garuna Gate will be developed on Raebareli-Ayodhya Road over 4.98 hectares.
As per the proposed project by the tourism department, the facilitation centers near these gates will offer 3-star to 2-star facilities along with budget hotels, guest houses, tourist centres and would also have tourism offices, as well as have art and craft galleries, food courts, cafeterias, restaurants, amphitheaters, multi-level parking and EV charging stations along with toilet blocks, its own sewage treatment plants as well as CNG pump to provide amenities to visitors at one place.
Officials said that the idea is to provide amenities to promote religious and spiritual tourism in the state.
