Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Lucknow MP Lalji Tandon said on Saturday that the Congress is trying to frame Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leaders by questioning them and accusing them of being involved in different terror attacks.

He said that however hard the Congress party may try,it would not be able to mar the image of RSS as it is the biggest non-political organisation in the world and has strong roots.

Tandon was speaking to mediapersons at the BJP state headquarters here. He is reported to have met RSS Pracharak Ashok Beri who, along with another Pracharak Ashok Varshney, has been accused by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of providing support to the prime accused in the Mecca Masjid blast. He said that these are just tactics being used by the Congress to harm the Sangh’s image and added that such manoeuvres cannot prove that Sangh workers are terrorists.

Commenting on the reported attack by RSS workers on the office of a television news channel in Delhi,Tandon said that the workers were just shouting slogans outside the office but they have been accused of creating a ruckus. If the RSS workers were creating a ruckus, what was Delhi Police doing and why didn’t it react immediately,he asked.

Reacting to the apology by Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to Muslims,Tandon said that the Muslims are a big vote bank in the forthcoming elections and such drama was being enacted to woo them. But the Muslims are intelligent and they will not fall prey to such acts,he concluded.
